LIBRARY

The pharmaceutical industry has access to a large number of organic libraries for use in drug discovery. Most of these libraries, however, consist of historical collections of compounds derived from narrowly focused targets, or molecules with highly similar core structures derived from combinatorial chemistry. The likelihood of lead generation from such libraries is significantly reduced because of the lack of molecular diversity.

The Synta chemical library contains over 100,000 synthetic compounds and numerous natural product extracts collected from universities, non-profit institutions, and other organizations – non-pharmaceutical and non-combinatorial sources that are in many cases unique to Synta. As a result, the library has a high degree of structural diversity as well as a strong correlation for drug-like attributes. Each of the Synta pipeline drug candidates was developed based on compounds from this library.

We continue our compound collection efforts and investment in chemoinformatics and in silico processes to continuously improve the richness and diversity of our library.
